The vision for Patriot Hill Ranch started nearly 10 years ago. Shane was reading the now famous book “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell. The book inspired patriotism, gratitude, and a sense of honor in Shane. He declared to Meggin, “We are going to start a foundation with our ranch for wounded veterans and their families.” Meggin’s response was a simple “O.K., where did that come from?” Shane replied “We take too much for granted and need to do more to show our appreciation.” Meggin knew that once Shane got something in his mind, it would be hard to stop.
Many of Meggin & Shane’s family are decorated military (WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan) and Meggin’s brother is a police Captain. So, both Shane and Meggin understand the sacrifices made by these patriots, even though they have never served themselves. The plan was always to start the foundation after Shane sold SMD (a company he co-founded with Scott Mondore). Shane and Scott sold the company in 2019 – at that point Shane and Meggin got serious with the foundation.
The plan was simple. Shane and Meggin would build the lodge and supporting infrastructure with their own funding. Once the doors open, Patriot Hill Ranch would accept donations to cover operating expenses. Stay connected with us on social media for real-time updates.
